Respect and Parental Obedience

Parents are our great teachers. We should always listen to our parents since they know us better than anyone else. They feed us, cloth us, look after us as we grow and provide whatever we need at any given opportunity.

Children are blessed to have parents as they go through life. Parents are rich in knowledge. They provide better advice than anyone else with their wisdom. Learning to obey is good for children.

There is a reason why parents forbid us to do some things.  They want to protect us from making the same mistakes they made themselves. If there things that our parents disapprove of, it is best that we heed their advice. Ideally, parents only want the best for their kids.

Parents instill discipline and responsibility on young people so that we may become better individuals. We should do the right thing for the right reasons. And this is what parental obedience is all about.

Even the gospel insists that children obey their parents.
The Book of Ephesians 6:1-3 says, “Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honor your father and mother that it may go well with you and that you may live long in the land.”

The Holy Bible acknowledges the unique role parents play in raising the young. To honor and obey parents is to honor and obey God. If we honor and obey our parents, we open ourselves to God's special blessings.

Parents love us unconditionally that they willingly sacrifice their own comforts for our sake. They protected us and provided for all our needs when we were young and helpless. The least we can do is obey and listen to them.
